Enterprise-wide Programs
UI Health Care Distinguished Scholar Program
The UI Health Care Distinguished Scholars Program is designed to enhance the recruitment of exceptionally accomplished, externally funded investigators whose research programs align with the University's strategic priorities. Candidates will typically demonstrate a strong record of sustained research excellence, including significant federal funding, such as holding multiple active R01 awards or equivalent peer-reviewed grants. Departments may nominate outstanding candidates for consideration, after which a review committee will evaluate each nomination based on scientific achievement, funding history, strategic fit, and potential for long-term impact.
UI Health Care Synergy Award
The UI Health Care Synergy Award is intended to support the recruitment of promising, high-impact investigators whose credentials and research portfolios may not yet meet the threshold for the UI Health Care Distinguished Scholars Program, but who demonstrate strong potential to advance the institution's research mission. The program places particular emphasis on candidates with a demonstrated record of scholarly achievement, successful extramural funding, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to collaborative and interdisciplinary research initiatives across the university.
UI Health Care Early Investigator Award
The UI Health Care Early Investigator Award is designed to support high-performing investigators as they continue to expand and strengthen their research portfolios. The program aims to foster a culture of sustained research success by encouraging investigators to pursue and secure a second R01 award. As part of the application, investigators are asked to provide an outline of a future R01 proposal, with the expectation that the full application will be submitted within two years of receiving the award.
UI Health Care Research Achievement Award
The UI Health Care Research Achievement Award rewards investigators who have demonstrated research success by obtaining 2 R01 federal grants. No application is necessary; this is automatically awarded to researchers who have achieved this important career milestone.
